Message of Principal, Government Medical College

Government Medical College, Haldwani came into existence in the year 2003 and the first batch of 100 MBBS student was admitted in the year 2004-05. With the vicissitudes of time the college progressed steadily and completed its first phase of development when first batch of MBBS students passed the University Examination in March 2009 and started Internship on 01st April 2009.

Government of India on recommendation of Medical Council of India granted permanent recognition to Medical College, Haldwani and consequent to that Kumaon University, Nainital granted Permanent Affiliation to the Medical College, Haldwani. The senior most batch (2004-05) of MBBS student after completing Internship and after getting Permanent Registration with Uttarakhand Medical Council have joined various organization as Medical Officer, Junior Residentsand officers in the defence forces.

The Medical College has the proud previledge of being the first recognized Government Medical College in Uttarakhand.

Now Government Medical College is a Postgraduate College with MD/MS courses being run in fifteen specialties, at present there are 39 Post Graduate (MD/MS) seats in the college and application has been made to Government of India for increasing the PG seats in the postgraduate department and for starting PG courses in other departments.

I appreciate & acknowledge the contribution of everyone associated with the development of this college. As the Principal of this college I bow my head in gratitude to all of them.

I foresee a great future for this college and hope one day it will be counted among the premier medical institutions of the country.
